I’m trying to find a way to password protect an entire wordpress blog on a self-hosted website. All I can find are options for such hosted on wordpress.com. Any ideas? Any help at all? I know how to protect individual posts. But I want / need the entire blog protected if there’s any way at all.

I posted this at the WordPress.org support forums, but nobody ever responded.

Yes. In fact, you have more freedom as to where to put your ads if you have a moderately advanced knowledge in HTML. Otherwise, you can use plugins that can do the same job automatically. There is a lot of tutorials out there on how to do this and on what plugins to use. Here are just some of the links:
