About

I can broadly consider myself as a biologist but my interests extend beyond that field. I don't consider myself  an expert in anything. Currently, I work as a researcher leading to a PhD degree at Flanders Institute for Biotechnology mainly dabbling around such fields as bioinformatics, comparative genomics, molecular evolution, microbiology, molecular biology and the likes.

I am very passionate about things that relate to computers with special interest on web applications development and computational biology. Mainly through self study, I became familiar and proficient in Python programming language, Linux/Unix systems, HTML, CSS, and Javascript. My current project involves the use of web technologies to integrate tools and to facilitate comparative genomics discovery.

I believe that the future of biology is strongly interlinked with the developments in computer and web technologies. The vast amount of biological data being generated has to be analyzed computationally in order to see the big picture. I bet, the next Charles Darwin is going to be a computational biologist.

Needless to say, this blog has much about the things I mentioned above...and even more. You can also read about my ramblings and musings on religion, philosophy and history. I can also be poetic sometimes.
