I regularly visit Google Trends so I can get a glimpse at the popularity of certain keywords in Google search. This has given me an idea on what topics to write about. For instance, three weeks ago, I found out that the searches for the term “ebook”  is increasing. So I thought about what article I can write about ebook or ebooks so I can tap into this increasing search stat. This led me to write about where to find and how to download ebooks.

Today, when I visited Google Trends, I saw a new feature currently under beta testing. This function is what I was wishing for Google Trends to have. This new tool is called Google Insights for Search. Instead of thinking of  a term and finding out its trends, this tool can give you the most searched keywords/phrases. The results can be filtered by a range of time, by regions, and by categories. For instance, I have known that in the last 90 days, the most searched term by Filipinos is “lyrics”. (See the snapshot below.) Also, this tool is able to show the terms with rising popularity along with top searches, which is just really amazing. Bloggers can take advantage of this information to write targeted articles designed to tap into the rising popularity of certain keywords.

This tool can also be used to query the search stats of keywords related to a particular term. For instance, if I type in the term “download” and search for the stats of related keywords, I can determine what many people are trying to download online. For Philippines, in the last 30 days, I found this…for top searches – games and mp3, but there is a rising popularity for downloading firefox and anti-virus softwares. From the same query result page, I can see the regions within the Philippines where most of these searches are coming from.

This is going to be a potent tool for power bloggers. In these times of crisis, the only way to make blogging sustainable is to write articles that can be searched to assure a significant traffic to the blog. The more traffic, the more revenues from affiliate advertising. If you know what I’m talking about (winks!), use Google Insights for Search now to increase the financial output of your blog. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, watch for my articles on how to make money through blogging…coming soon.

There is a growing number of local Filipino users of Paypal ever since the company set foot in our country. For technopreneurs, having a Paypal account is the most secure and convenient way to send or receive payments online. Sooner or later, there is a need to withdraw some funds from Paypal so these can be converted to hard cash. With a bank account in any established banks in the Philippines, withdrawal of Paypal funds can be easily done. Having done this process a number of times now, I’m sharing here the steps on how to accomplish this.

First, a bank account has to be enrolled. This can be done by accessing Profile > Add/Edit Bank Account under the My Account menu.

step1

The form for adding the bank account should look like this:

step2

Notice that a bank code is necessary. A list of this codes can be seen in this post Complete list of Paypal Bank Codes in the Philippines. After this, just click continue and the succeeding steps are self-explanatory.

Once a bank account has been added, a withdrawal can now be made into the that account. Under the My Account menu, a link to Withdraw is provided. In the withdraw funds page, click Withdraw funds to your bank account. The amount should then be entered.

step3

Just click continue after entering the amount and it’s done. Note that there is a charge for this transaction (see the rates below) and it takes a couple of days for the funds to be transferred to your local bank account.
